Fitter Food – a lifelong recipe for health and fat loss

I absolutely loved this book, partly because it’s the first paleo book I have read that has been written for us Brits. So no cup measurements in the recipes section – yay!

The book is written by Keris Marsden who studied Naturopathic Nutrition at the London College of Naturopathic Medicine, and Matt Whitmore, a personal trainer and strength coach.

The book starts with a short overview of what Fitter Food is about, and I love the first sentence ‘Fitter Food is real food.’ Since that’s what we’re all about at Paleo Britain I knew I was going to get on well with this book!

There is a chapter on how to tell if you’re current diet isn’t working, followed by a detailed chapter on nutrition. They then cover what is and isn’t on the shopping list and there’s a brilliant section on removing sugar and grains. The first part of the book isn’t super long but is packed with information in an easy to digest format and useful illustrations.

The second section of the book is recipes which are really comprehensive. They cover Breakfasts (Crunchy Nut Coconut Flakes will make a great alternative to your old Crunchy Nut Cornflakes!) Salads, Light Bites, Burgers, Weekday Meals in Minutes, Weekend Favourites, Weekend Snacks, Sides, Dips & Condiments and Cheats of Champions! I tried out the Mackerel and Sweet Potato Fish Cakes on my two year old and they went down a treat. We also made the Man Maker Pie which was delicious – a really hearty meal.

If you are living in the UK and interested in the paleo diet (which we guess you are if you are on the Paleo Britain site) then you will find this book a valuable resource.
